White coating on the penis or glans
It is most often associated with the following problems:
Inflammation of the foreskin can be acute (short-term) or chronic (long-term). The most common causes of acute inflammation of the foreskin are poor hygiene, unprotected sex, or diabetes. If the inflammation persists for a long time or is repeated, chronic inflammation of the foreskin may develop, in which the foreskin becomes scarred and thickened. Small scars and foreskin tears retract over time, resulting in a narrowing of the foreskin, or phimosis.
Inflammation of the foreskin is common in boys who have a narrowed foreskin or phimosis.
Balanitis is a yeast infection or bacterial infection that forms on the glans of the penis and is most often caused by the yeast Candida albicans, in the case of yeast balanitis, or by various bacteria in the case of bacterial balanitis.
What are the causes of balanitis?
- Sexual intercourse – during sexual intercourse, yeast or bacteria can be transmitted to a man. The man becomes a carrier who may not show symptoms of mycosis, but he infects his sexual partner.
- Hygiene – low hygiene standards
- Diet – in terms of diet, mycosis mostly occurs in men who have an excessive intake of sugar in their diet, or in diabetics.
What are the symptoms of balanitis?
- increased temperature
- swelling, pain and redness of the glans – balanoposthitis
- urinary problems
- spreading redness to the entire glans
- itching and burning of the glans – balanitis
- purulent secretion
If balanitis is not treated in time, scarring of the foreskin of the penis, the formation of rhagades and subsequent narrowing of the foreskin may occur. Balanitis also occurs with
phimosis, when a man is unable to pull the foreskin over the glans and wash the foreskin and glans.
In the treatment of chronic balanitis, it is recommended to perform
circumcision – when the foreskin is removed. Balanitis does not occur in men who have undergone circumcision.
