More about the procedure
Procedure characteristics
What is frenulotomy / frenuloplasty?
Cutting of the short frenulum of the penis (frenulotomy) is one of the most commonly performed minor operations. At our workplace, we perform it painlessly, using the most modern local anesthetics and self-absorbing suture material, which ensures the patient complete comfort and painless procedure without the need for subsequent suture removal.
Frenulotomy is performed for two reasons. One is a short frenulum and the other is premature ejaculation. The procedure does not require subsequent sick leave. Only sexual abstinence for 14 days is necessary.
If you are healthy, do not take any medications affecting blood clotting and book the procedure in advance by phone, we can perform the procedure immediately after examination by our doctor.
In case you require the procedure under general anesthesia (artificial sleep), please contact our reception, where we will arrange a consultation appointment, which in this case must precede the procedure under artificial sleep.
Frenulotomy is used as the first step in the treatment of premature ejaculation (ejaculatio praecox). It helps some patients completely. In those where this measure is not sufficient, medications based on antidepressants or local anesthetics that are applied to the penis need to be administered.
What problems does frenulotomy / frenuloplasty solve?
The procedure solves short frenulum of the penis, premature ejaculation and conditions after frenulum tear.
What are the advantages of frenulotomy / frenuloplasty?
Frenulotomy or frenuloplasty significantly increases comfort and quality of life. It relieves boys from pain during erection or urination, facilitates hygiene, prevents repeated inflammations and promotes natural development. The procedure is relatively simple and fast, which is especially practical for procedures on children or adolescents.
What are the risks of frenulotomy / frenuloplasty?
The procedure is considered safe, but as with any surgical procedure, in some cases swelling, mild bleeding or scarring may occur. Rarely, infection or persistent pain sensations may appear. Most complications subside during healing with proper care.
How does frenulotomy / frenuloplasty work?
The procedure is outpatient. The short frenulum is surgically removed or adjusted under general anesthesia (in children) or local anesthesia (in adults). Self-absorbing sutures are used, so they do not need to be removed. After the procedure, there is usually brief monitoring, after which the patient can go home.
